Entrance exam stress relief

June 7th, 2009 by James

Let us take a brief break from Japan-related postings to bring you a scene of entrance exam stress relief in a neighboring country:

entrance exams

It is almost time for the “gaokao” [university entrance exam] and yesterday morning and the third years [final year of high school in China] at our school had a pledge ceremony. Afterward, the third year students began to throw their exam papers, their books. At first people tore them into pieces, later they were throwing entire sheets and sheets, and even later they were throwing bundles and bundles. It was spectacular. It was a release from the stress of the third year.

We do this at my highschool too, the entire floor is nothing but paper and angry administrators try to stop it every year to no avail.

Too bad they aren’t learning anything remotely useful at all.

How many of them were later summarily executed by the security forces for disrupting social harmony?

Personally, I’m tempted to join in. I’ve got a stack of papers up to my knees right now that I’d dearly love to shred. And unlike these kids, I’d be cleaning up after myself.
