Green tea-flavored Coca-Cola

June 4th, 2009 by James

Green Tea flavor zero calorie Coca-Cola Plus, Japan’s newest weird soft drink:

Green Tea Coke

The cola, which contains catechins, will hit stores across Japan on Monday, June 8th. Judging from Coke’s press release, the target demographic is women in their 20’s and 30’s who are concerned about health and beauty.

Expect a bitter battle to take place this month between this cola and Pepsi’s new shiso-flavored drink.

We had that in Germany last year, it didn’t taste that much like Green Tea. I am going to try the Japanese version anyway, I hope it’s better than the German one.

Really? We had that in Germany? I totally missed it. Probably because I prefer Pepsi anyway and because I usually don’t watch TV here. :)

What, no cucumber? No yogurt? No shiso? Flavoring your beverage with another similarly refreshing beverage is pretty weak, Coke. Try throwing in some natto or shichimi togarashi next time.

It has been in Europe since last year, really nothing special.

This should be recalled. The label clearly states Green Tea Flavor. However it does not have any green tea flavor at all. It is false advertising. Coca Cola really messed up this time. Feel free to give them a call and tell them.
