Crane accident in Tokyo kills construction worker
A part of a construction crane fell down in Tokyo this morning, killing a worker:
The operator’s cab and arm of a tower crane slid down the mast and crashed on the ground in Tokyo on Wednesday, killing one construction worker and seriously injuring another.
The impact of the crash caused the arm to snap in the middle, and its top end brought down power lines and crushed a car in a parking lot across a road.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. said the accident temporarily cut off electricity to up to 2,900 households in Itabashi, Kita and Toshima wards.
Less than two months have passed since the last crane accident in Tokyo.
