Pepsi Shiso

May 27th, 2009 by James

Two summers ago, it was Cucumber Pepsi. Last summer, it was Blue Hawaiian Pepsi. The disgusting novelty Pepsi flavor of this summer will be:

Pepsi Shiso

Shiso-flavored Pepsi! It will hit convenience stores across Japan on June 23rd and be available for a limited time only.

Rock on, Pepsi. Your wacky summer flavors never fail to amuse me. Umeboshi next summer!

Sounds pretty gross. But I heard just now that Japanese people like to drink shiso juice, so who knows. I’ll try it.

After Umeboshi, let’s do Katsuo-bushi Pepsi.

Heh, my notebook PC screen is dying, so it had a terrible yellow tinge on it. That’s my excuse anyway!

Bring this to the HI & CA & OR & WA alone.
Id love to sample this new soda.

Id does not approve with your comment. Id is not a test subject. Id in Japanese is Ido.
Also why should they bother bringing this to those states anyways?
I agree with the model being better, though in north america I think our bottles contains more pepsi.

Ewww! Sounds delightfully nasty! :) I was pretty disappointed with that Blue Hawaii and WHITE *shudder* stuff last year, and really sorry I missed the Cucumber Pepsi the year before. Gotta try this one for good measure!

Umeboshi actually sounds like it might end up being pretty good! :)

Does anyone know if Japan’s Pepsi is made with sugar or corn syrup? I’ve been hearing about some new “natural” and “throwback” versions that use real sugar again, apparently.

Cucumber Pepsi was great. Nothing like cucumber, but pretty refreshing.
I’m not holding out much hope for Shiso Pepsi though. Shiso doesn’t even taste good.

I had a sip of the cucumber pepsi it was gross. I had a sip of the blue hawaii stuff which was terrible as well. I like shiso wrapped around a piece of sashimi and daikon buts thats it.

You should try shiso-flavored sho-chu. It actually does pretty well. And actually, I’ve developed a taste for shiso. I’m actually anticipating Shiso pepsi… It’s almost like Japan’s very own mint leaf. When you think about it that way, “Shiso Pepsi” actually sounds refreshing: In a Japanese Mint-y sort of way.

Can’t wait.

So far I missed all the special flavors of Japanese Pepsi. But I had lots of Pepsi Blue when I was in New York some years ago. ^^ Unfortunately they never introduced it in Germany, but I bought a few cans in France as well. Last year I read that the blue color was actually not that safe for consumption, which was probably the reason why it has never been introduced in Germany. Yikes. But it tasted quite good at least. :)

I just bought it and it tastes great, kind of lime flavor, no sugar ( a plus), but lots of caffeine, I drank it 5 hours ago, I am still buzzed……..
