I don’t think there are a great many Superman fans in Japan, but I guess he’s good enough for the new Prius commercials airing on Japanese TV:

Apropos of nothing in particular, my supervisor at my local BOE is a Superman fan… still don’t know what that says as to overall popularity in Japan, but it’s out there.

They actually got a guy that really did have a “Clark Kent” sort of look about him. I’m impressed–I was kind of expecting just some vaguely western-looking guy.

Spiderman is usually doing photos and Superman is doing stories. So, yeah, it is some kind of mix-up. But I don’t really care.

The Prius was only intended as a PR production by Toyota with a very limited production run. they had no idea it would be so popular. Credit to them to jump on the unforeseen boon in timing and turn it into their new flagship for the future…
