Next time you’re on a sat phone call (about $12USD/minute) or a expensive taxi cab ride, or talking to a lawyer (about $300USD/hour) feel free to take 10-15 minutes (on the clock of course) and goof off.

Let me know how you feel about pissing that money away.

Since time runs more then $20,000USD/hour on the ISS (not to mention that transport cost), yes, I’d really prefer that the astronauts stay focused and do real science – not nonsense sent in by the oh so stupid public.

As to Nasa’s ROI, almost all (80-90$) of it is from their robotic missions (and the R&D that went into those projects) and not from the uber-wastful watered down human based missions. Which are nothing more then political PR theater.

If there was no space program, government would find other less worthy ways to spend the money.

If you don’t like the space program, just come out and say that…don’t couch it in some kind of financial responsibility argument.

You might as well complain about getting hit by a drop of rain while the streets flood.
