Sakura springs from ugly concrete embankment

Residents of Takikawa in Hokkaido are amazed and pleased that this cherry tree has somehow grown out of a crack in a concrete embankment:

Still, this is pretty unusual: dandelions will grow anywhere, but for those who’ve tried to propagate cherries and failed, this is a small miracle. And I’m pleased that those people are pleased.

Not sure what’s all the fuss about… Those things happen…
Remember when I was once travelling trough Italy and saw trees growing on a very long old bridge no longer in use over a huge lake. THAT was amazing.
