Celebrity scandal deserved scale model of entire neighborhood

April 24th, 2009 by James

Congratulations, Fuji TV, for going the extra mile and building a model of the neighborhood around the park in which SMAP member Tsuyoshi Kusanagi was arrested for being loud, drunk, and naked:

Jeez. You get arrested for nudity: Bad, It’s made public: Very Bad, Your arrest is now being analyzed with small models: You are screwed.

He should just leave Japan for a few months.

For some reason, that strikes me as really funny. Tell me, what do they do when reporting on something REALLY important?

Nothing of any consequence is going on in Japan, so why not?

I’m guessing since his appearances on TV shows and CMs are being pulled, which count for roughly half of Japan’s TV shows and CMs, that leaves a lot of free airtime for the networks to fill.

I say a dramatic minute-by-minute re-enactment of events in a constructed full scale set in a studio, complete with extras, police and of course proper nudity.

Does this really surprise anyone? Fuji TV is known for their “quirky” visual aids like that one segment where they had a doll of Taro Aso and they made it jump over tiny hurdles used to represent the challenges he faces.

Come on, I mean who hasn’t run around showing their arse when they’re drunk? It was every Saturday night where Our Man comes from. Can’t tell you how many model villages they’d have to make to cover my Saturday nights out as a youth.

I should really look into getting into the miniature model business. This is clearly where the money is.

Amazing – did they really build all that in such a short time? if so Fuji TV must have a retained army of model makers ready to spring into action for celebrity scandals.

This is so EPIC!!

I cannot put it in words! They are showing the area like Gozdzilla was dancing the macarena there … naked…. :-)

Red are: here be naked Godzilla… watch out!

I think this will go down in geek/net history as one of the best LULZ moment ever!

ps: it’s good to see a country so peaceful, that the most upstirring stuff is a drunk pop star running around in Adams costume… I would like to live there!

The media is really putting the screws to this guy. It was funny at first but now I am starting to feel bad for the dude. How long are they going to hammer him for something that could happen to anyone?

Scale models? Sorry, but NHK will always win in this category. Not only is building models old-fashioned and time consuming, it is your tax money going to support the NHK crafts department. I think NHK sent out their helicopter instead of making a model for the Kusanagi story. Here’s my editorial about NHK news and model-making: Life NHK News Style
