Vintage 7-11 Commercial

From the old days, when 7-11 meant “open from 7AM to 11PM”:

The commercial starts with the salaryman’s wife telling him to pick up some things on the way home. Later, he is having a after work drink and realizes he has forgotten to go to the supermarket! Luckily, 7-11 is still open, so he is can avoid his wife’s anger.

But convenience stores are more expensive than supermarkets (or at least they are in N. America). Won’t his wife be unhappy when she learns he paid more for these groceries than if he went to the supermarket? But then again she’ll just take it out of his pocket money.

Timing…just today, my wife asked me to pick up some milk on the way home from work, which I forgot. I ended out going to 7-11 to get the milk. Time passes, but things remain the same.
