Break out the facepaint, it’s time to impersonate some Black musicians!

Very noticeable problems with R’s and L’s on the first one and the second one had a heavy accent. Hard to judge the voice or singing when those things tend to stick out.

Someone should tell them that many people find the black face insulting, silly, or generally distracting for a serious impersonation. It would be like me trying to do a serious impersonation of an Asian singer and doing the whole bit Miley Cyrus style. In short it does nothing to make the look convincing and just distracts from any talent you actually have. Probably a moot point if their only audience is a Japanese crowd who may be oblivious to the opinions of outsiders. But that’s my feeling on it. It would be really really interesting to hear from one of the people being impersonated and see how they felt at being portrayed in black face. After all if you are trying to pay some kind of tribute to an artist through impersonation it would be cool to research it first and see how they might take it.

Moeyan was by far the best. As an African-American, I’ve got to say, a lot of times people think we’re much more sensitive than we actually are. These people weren’t painting their faces to make fun of black people, they were doing it to more closely impersonate individual performers with darker skin tones than they have. Blackface is a big problem when the aim is to mock people of African descent, but not when the intention is just to look like a specific person of African descent.
