I think　it is common that journalists get what the suspect under arrest is saying from the police.

Why would any sane defendant actually say something like that when their career was on the line?

In this case, there is a woman who claims he did, since the incident happened at 8 o’clock, perhaps there were other witnesses.
You’d better not tell a lie when you are suspected.
Whether you did it or not, be honest.
If you did it, confessing is the quickest way to be released.
If you didn’t, don’t make false confession. Call the lawyer.

There might be various responses to why someone gropes.

Why do you think police report the disposition that few would believe? I think it is not unreasonable that he said that.

My impression is that though there are cases where police pressured on the detained, this case is not such a case. because his testimony does not sound unreasonble,and if he hadn’t commmit, he would have been able to contact his office and the office will provide a good lawer because the guy was money maker.

Do you have any other evidence that this case is the case of police pressing on the detained other than the fact that there were cases where police pressured on the detained.
It is like saying since there were cases of wrong conviction in the past, this particular case is also such a case. But the reasoning is flawed.

All the exceptional cases tell us is that we shouldn’t easily assume that the suspect commit a crime. It is extreme to assume that he did that because the police and the alleged victim said so, but it is also extreme to assume that he didn’t because of the past cases and that most of the cases are such cases.

Hey Bejamin I agree. daihonei is always a possibility.
We need to be critical of what government agents say and for that matter, we also need to be critical of what the media or even human right activism say too. They might distort and/or cover up the facts for their agenda.
From the past experience, we have several ways to prevent wrong convictions;still, wrong convictions take place in any countries.
“Soredemo boku wa yatteinai” was one of the films that tried to raise consciousness.
But in this particular case, we have yet no sufficient reason to conclude that police spoke wrongly for the suspect unless i.m.o, someone holds a theory that police speaks wrongly for the most of the times and/or most of female victims tell lies.　And the the theory is not verified and the latter assumption can be offensive. That is my point.
