WTF? The US forces JAPAN to be a ‘pacifist’ government after WWII where the defense of the country is the ‘responsibility’ of the UNITED STATES. Fast forward 50+ years and a rogue communist regime lobs a nuclear capable missile over JAPANESE AIRSPACE WITH NO F’N RECOURSE FROM THE WEST!!!!!! The US – and more so JAPAN – are looking so stupid, terrified, and weak – exactly what NK is trying to do. This is not military brinksmanship – this is political muscle flexing and JAPAN is getting played like a busted banjo found on the side of a discontinued amtrak railway. Don’t worry -we’ll protect you – as long as you keep buying our US Treasuries. PSYCHE!

Lets try on the same shoes. If Cuba launched a missile over US Airspace and ended up landing somewhere in the Pacific Ocean there would be major hell to pay. The American Government would respond with a covert ground force invasion. This actually happened without missile launches – just missile placement – Bay of Pigs. Would the US be so non-issue about this whole thing if IRAN launched a rocket over IRAQ?

JAPAN is the US’s only true and greatest ally and the US non response to NK’s missile launch over JAPANESE territory and JAPANESE people shows the US’s true colors when it comes to the ‘defense’ of JAPAN. The Japanese need to defend themselves and must reconsider its so-called partnership with the US. CHINA loves this leverage over the WEST on the NK issue and does not mind having a crazed psychopath on its side. Just imagine when the real bombs start to drop? – The US would only respond if the missiles reach Hawaii or Alaska. This whole notion of being safe and protected under the ‘US Umbrella’ is proving to be a fallacy that the Japanese people have been duped into believing.

THIS IS THE SECOND MISSILE THAT HAS BEEN LAUNCHED INTO JAPANESE AIRSPACE!!!!! THIS IS AUTOMATICALLY AN ACT OF WAR FOR EVERY OTHER COUNTRY – WHY IS IT OK TO DO THIS TO THE GREAT PEOPLE AND NATION OF JAPAN?

Rob A., you do realize that “satellite launch” could well be a missile with a lethal payload? That, unlike Osama bin Laden, Kim Jong-Il had no qualms about destroying others left and right to serve his ideologies? And, that everything that is pushed out of the “official” North Korean press agency is full of intentionally misleading, propaganda-laden buzzwords?

What would you say if that “launch” is what it really is, a missile that Kim Jong-Il intends to use to attack Japan and South Korea?

personally, the fuss is not bad for japan. this is good chance to review the entire defense system of japan.
now, the national defense is getting the highest attention in japan after ww2 and many of japanese begin to realize that the international society does not care about the matter so much even if its in the usa. in the near future, japanese military force will be enforced. if some one yell to japan “revival japanse imperialism!”, its enough to say back “why dont you stop mr kim doing silly action, he is your brother in law. we just prepare to protect our country.”" ideally speaking, japan should start developing own wepons in stead of importing wepons from usa. its good for japanese economy. wow! i am the perfect patriot!!!!hehehe
