    poisoned in china

Mainichi reports that an investigation into the contamination of Chinese-made gyoza has found that the incident probably took place in China:

The research institute is conducting the experiment under the same conditions as those in the freezer, sources at Tianyang Food Plant said. Researchers have injected the pesticide called methamidophos into cardboard boxes using a syringe, and examined how the pesticide stuck to dumplings and their packaging inside the boxes.

As a result, they have confirmed that dumplings were contaminated with the pesticide even though their packaging was not damaged.

Following the discovery, Chinese law enforcers seem to be focusing on the allegations that someone used a syringe to inject methamidophos into the cardboard box that contained gyoza that was subsequently found contaminated with the pesticide in Japan.

The Chinese government had previously claimed that the contamination had not happened in China.
