Ken Tanaka Art Show in California

March 26th, 2009 by Claytonian

Ken Tanaka recently sent me an email with the following video and accompanying information:

By some weird, miraculous way, youtube videos have led to a Ken Tanaka art show at a big LA gallery. I’ve been gearing up for it for the past few months. My latest video announces my upcoming show (April 11th to May 2nd) at Billy Shire fine Arts.

Hopefully, the PR generated by this art show will spread the word about my search for [my missing birth parents] Jonathan and Linda Smith and I will finally find them :) .

Here are some details that aren’t in the video:
This show will feature Ken Tanaka drawings, music, and videos. The installation art piece referred to in the video is “Ken Tanaka’s garage sale”. An american style garage sale uprooted and placed inside of an art gallery, with work from artists shown in my videos (like Remi-chan) mixed in with typical garage sale junk. Artists have been asked to make “fake” art items that will blend in with the real garage sale items. So there will be fake comic books, records, cassette tapes etc, all mixed in with the real thing.

Here is a link to the gallery

So if you will be around Culver city around that time, you may want to step in and check it out.

1. Ken Tanaka’s work is fabulous.
2. If Remi February would agree to date me I would take back everything bad I ever said about Japan…
ever
I might go out with Ken, too, if that’s what it came down to.

The “art” might not be so hot but if a guy can figure out how to make a living out of imitating a Japanese accent I have to tip my hat to him.

I’d say Remi is 中の下. There’s something really off-putting with Japanese people who speak English (sorry).

Gotta lova Ken’s art though.
