Repeat 100 times: I will not make an off-color joke. I will not make an off-color joke. I will not…

Congrats, Japan!

And shame on you to those Koreans who went to Dodger Stadium with the massive banners talking about Takeshima/Dokdo.

It was predictable, but it doesn’t matter… to anyone other than crazy Korean people.

Wow, I never thought some Koreans would go that low. Just shows you how blindly and stupidly patriotic some of them are. Its funny how alot of people all of a sudden started to care about baseball when they heard it was Japan vs. Korea in the final…*gasp*

Its a fact…the Koreans are such sore losers in every aspect of life…whether it be sports or political issues.

As far as i know Japan was the underdog until they won this WBC. And they still are in soccer.

R: If they are the underdog then why are they 2 time in the row world champions then?
Leave your negative korean view out, do you live better driven by hatred? why don’t you try be a better person? hate will shorten your life span, be happy

and if you don’t like Japanese and things relating to Japan why are you here on this site anyways?

@Kenji: Grow up.

@e: The two top Korean players who were in the Olympic games didn’t play in the WBC this year, and Korea still came this far.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_at_the_2008_Summer_Olympics

They didn’t have Lee Seung-Yeop in WBC. Think of it like Japan not having Ichiro – Koreans didn’t expect New Korea to even get as far as they did.

It was a great game, and exciting right up to the end. But Japan played a better game, and they deserved the win.

Actually, a best-of-seven baseball tournament would probably be the most reasonable way to settle the dispute.

They’d never be able to agree on umpires, though.

I watched that game! It was very exciting! Congrats to Japan winning the title 2nd time!
Korea also did a great job! Though I’m not much of a Korean fan, but they are good. To be able to reach the finals this year with little loss, they deserved to be acknowledge as a great baseball team. They were almost undefeated if not for Japan, since they won against all the other team they went up against. Of course that also meant that Japan was really strong as well.

I really just got into baseball just very recently. The WBC caught my attention with having pros playing each other in international competition. Also had myself a lesson on 2006 WBC and japan baseball in general.

Then I watched the documentary “Kokoyakyu: High school baseball” which was really an eye opener in the world of Japanese baseball. So all along I’d been rooting for the Japan team. The first game I’d watch from beginning to end is the Japan-USA on sunday, then last night Japan-Korea. needless to say, it was an amazing and heart pounding game.

btw, I’m having a hard time finding video clips from the first Japan-korea game, the 14-2 game. it was the second game of Pool A of the 2009 WBC.

Baseball is a game best enjoyed in person…with beer and hot dogs, of course.

Game within a game.

^ Or in Japan’s case, beer or sake, in addition to hot dogs, you got rice balls, takoyaki, grilled squids, etc.
and Yeah ur right, one of these days, I want to go to a ballpark, watch a game and pig out on foods while cheering on. It would be a great experience.
