Purse snatching in Tokyo

There has been an increase in the number of reported purse-snatching in Tokyo, so a special event was held to spread awareness:

About 150 people participated in the event, which included demonstrations involving actors. Volunteers also stood at the exit to a train station and passed out free bicycle bag nets.

I’m very sad to see that this is becoming (somewhat) more and more common in Japan. I’ve lived in a country where safety was long gone since many years ago, and the feeling of being safe as I felt in Japan is hard to explain. People couldn’t believe me when I told them that we left our bags on bikes and nothing bad would happen.
