Cargo ship drags dead fin whale into Hokkaido harbor
The endangered fin whale is a rare sight in the waters around Japan, so when a cargo ship docked in Hokkaido with a whale carcass stuck to its bow, the event became national news:
Hokkaido University researchers who came to examine the whale have found no large wounds on its body, leading them to conclude that the whale was probably already dead when it came into contact with the ship.

Not me.
I can’t see any possible way that a freighter that size – with a low speed and relatively limited mobility – would be able to T-bone a whale unless it was already dead.

well, at the end of the video, it`s stated that the whale will be treated as garbage and will be thrown away..

The whale obviously martyred itself to bring media attention to its plight of being endangered. It’s clever little scheme seems to have played out nicely.
