Your local police box is not an ATM

January 31st, 2009 by James

A scene from an NTV Real Time News segment about a police box in Kyushu:

In the clip, officers have to deal with a man who wanders into the police box and demands that they allow him to take cash out of his bank account. The man says something about wanting to go home, but since he has no cash he wants the police officers to help him. The cops tell him they cannot give him cash and they cannot force banks to re-open. He then demands that the police give him a ride home. They refuse, and he gets into a minor scuffle with some officers as he leaves the police box.

At that point, the man thinks up a clever scheme. He makes an emergency 1-1-9 call and says that he is hurt and needs an ambulance. The officers take his phone and tell emergency operators that the man is lying. Eventually the man, who apparently has no cash, hails a cab and leaves.

Security reasons.
Also try the ATMs in convenience stores.

But that’s what ATM’s are for, or not?
And why police didn’t give him a ride? aren’t them to protect and Serve?
Good camera angles, by the way.

sliders_alpha, that’s just how it is in Japan. The responsible way is to make sure that you get some money before the ATMs close. I never really had any trouble with that while I lived there.

About the clip, I think German police men would probably have taken him into custody for this “scuffle”.

Aren’t there too many well positioned moving camera to shoot that same?
Is it a reconstitution like isa said?

If so the merits of the video are kind of limited in my opinion.

I think that in Japan a lot of documentaries are reconstructed ones.

Still it reflects greatly the daily life of Japanese, usually.

Seriously…If this ‘tard tried something like that over here in the states…namely, Texas…He would’ve been pummeled thricely and given 3 meals and a cot. And, he’d never even THINK about actin’ a fool like that again.
