Roppongi is not Japan!
Seriously, I wonder how silly her bow looked for a Japanese person.
Seriously, I wonder how silly her bow looked for a Japanese person.
What are you talking about? What was wrong with her bow? And she’s American — why would anyone expect her to nail the “perfect bow” anyway? Jeez.
Wait, what? I don’t think I follow the geography lesson… Or the bow bit… [insert confused smiley here]
I think Haf was saying comically that Roppongi is not Japan because it is known as the capital of all things foreign in Tokyo and has many places and shops that cater to foreigners. But, the empress is there, so that must be Japan! XD
Ahhh, if that’s the case then I guess I get it. Thanks for the possible explanation!
Still disagree with the whole bow part but perhaps that’s another subtle joke as well?
Actually her bow looks classy even for me who is a conservative right-wing Japanese.
Ah, being both conservative AND a right-winger, you must be definitely be the expert on Japanese etiquette and manners! Other mundane Japanese people with liberal views have no chance!
Oh, I was very drunk when I wrote the comment (^_^;
I am not a right-winger at all, though I sometimes find it funny that some foreign bloggers label Japanese who don’t agree with their views as right-wingers. But of course it had nothing to do with the Haf’s comment nor this site. The upshot is that I was a drunken bustard when I wrote the previous comment.
I am now clear-headed, and Meryl Streep’s bow still looks classy.
There’s one more M in Mamma Mia!
Oh, and I went to see it last night on a free ticket, and it was rather good, although the ending versus the stage ending didn’t quite work too well for me.
I thought Meryl Streep’s bow was just fine, considering. But boy, is her name a mouthful in Japanese.
