Video: Taxi driver beaten by drunk passengers

A scary video of a Tokyo taxi driver being attacked by two drunk passengers:

After the attack shown in the video, he was taken outside and beaten for 15 minutes by the two men (they were then arrested by the police). The driver is convinced he would have died from the beating had the men used a bat instead of an umbrella.

According to the Japanese youtube user from the link above, the attackers were Chinese but I guess we need to wait until the police release more information.

The taxi driver picked up the scum bags in Ikebukuro which is in my view one of the biggest dumps in Tokyo together with Roppongi. They seem to be Japanese as the language used seems to be native level. The taxi driver should have kept his mouth shut and just have driven to a koban instead of telling the scum bags that he was going to the police.

they have osaka ben (dialect) so they’re japanese!!! the media has already checked their nationality otherwise the media should be all going crazy about that since Okinawa’s stabbing.

One of the scums said “nan ya” but apart from that their Japanese seemed pretty standard Tokyo ben. The glass did infact protect the driver from the umbrella. It is a shame that taxi drivers are being attacked like that. We might see in the future like other places that there is glass between the driver and passanger and no passangers are allowed to sit in the front seat.

With glass between the passanger and driver how will this affect the AC in the summer time? One of the best feeling there is in the summer time is to hop into a cooled down Toyota Crown taxi from the blazing heat.
