“Yaroo” security company copies Yahoo! logo

Pink Tentacle has reported on Yaroo Security, a Tokyo-based security guard company with a very familiar logo:
A company spokesman flatly denies that their logo is an imitation of Yahoo’s, although he admits, with a smile, that the logo designers did refer to it a little bit. The spokesman explains that the name “Yaroo” is a play on the word “yaru” (meaning “do”) — a reference to their do-anything style of business.

Terrible news for Yahoo! Japan Japanese error on the Wikipedia logo? |

Let’s not forget the logo for Manboo.co.jp, which as an Internet cafe chain encroaches on Yahoo’s turf considerably more than a security company does….
“A company spokesman flatly denies that their logo is an imitation of Yahoo’s…”
Bullshit.
I don’t know the exact word for this. I wouldn’t say it’s blatant copy but something to look more “animated” (?) or parody, I don’t know.
But it is a blatant copy, only one letter is different AND they arranged the letters in the exact same way.
Funny clip though. ^^
「YAHOOさんのロゴをちょっと参考にさせてもらいました。」
Of course they parodied (if that’s the right term) Yahoo’s logo.
They know it, you know it.
But if they’re asked so in a TV interview, what are they supposed to say to all of Japan? “We ripped them off and we’re proud of it”?
Also, if you read it first as Yaruo rather than Yaroo as I did, then you’re spending way too much time on 2ch-related sites…
I doubt Yahoo! will let them do this. Some time ago I created a small personal search engine that I named Yahourt! (= yogurt in French), using the Yahoo font. They sent me an email asking me to remove it or they would file a lawsuit. These guys are less funny than what their company name suggests.
Yahoo’s logo has a star with wings?
