Ah yes, and we all remember the performance of Ned Flanders and his wife during a fire prevention information day, when they were playing a Hippie couple and Ned’s pants caught fire while showing the dangers of smoking in bed. ^^

I don’t get this – are those heaters usually also remote controlled or does the halogen react with the infrared beam from the remote control in some way or what?

That’s a serious thing. MY sister once almost died from carbon monoxide in her bathroom due to a water heater working with gas not being calibrated correctly.

I have central heat.

Although I avoid the fire hazard of a space heater I have to have carbon monoxide detectors in my home otherwise if something went wrong I would probably never know until it was too late.

and don’t use extension cords that aren’t of the proper rating. Almost caught my house on fire that way this year.

Central Heating – Look into it Japan.

Also, don’t electric heaters have a thermal overload sensor to prevent fires when they tip over or get covered by something?
