I can’t wait to see the live-action bebop, I’m a fan of Keanu Reeves (At least his later stuff, Matrix onward) and a fan of cowboy bebop. Also, I think he’s an Anime fan and has actually watched bebop which makes it cooler. His sense of humor should mix well with spike, I wonder who will play Fey?

Keanu Reeves is all right for the external appearance, but will he be able to put enough expression into the character to pull off Spike Spiegel’s personality? Keanu Reeves typically plays sarcastic characters with biting remarks and little facial expression, but Spike Spiegel is more upbeat with his quips.

That is also my concern. I really hope they get this right.

I also hope that they stick to the atmosphere of the anime and also to the music style.

You got it all wrong buddy. Spike Spiegel’s personality is a mix of Bruce Lee’s intellectual bravado, Lupin’s snide side and a dash of Ed McBane novel.

That’s Spike Spiegel.

Spike Spiegel while under the influence of Keanu Reeves: Blank stare followed by woah, followed by messiah complex.

It’s going to be as bad as the Dragonball movie. Just wait.

Seriously, what the hell is up with all these remakes? And why is Keanu Reeves in EVERY ONE OF THEM?

Well, I guess if he watched the anime, he might be able to pull it off. Unless “comedy” to him, means “Ted Theodore Logan.”

Jackie Chan is a good choice.

I’m not really liking the idea of the bebop movie.

Something tells me these will both be epic fail.

I feel that Jackie Chan has been typecasted as “wise old Asian man who knows martial arts” and that Keanu will not be able to play Spike correctly.

Are there seriously any Japanese actors that can play as Japanese in a hollywood movie? Zhang Ziyi in Memoirs of a Geisha and now Jackie Chan as Mr. Freaking Miyagi? Not only that but Karate in China?

Got a Chinese playing a Japanese and an idiot playing Spike Spiegel. But thats the quality of movies we can expect nowadays. I might as well lower my standards and go try to enjoy Beverly Hills Chihuahua.

Just so long as they call it The Kungfu Kid it might work. Or The Re-Education Through Labour Kid.

Why call it Karate kid when u r gonna change a HUGE part of the story?

I assume Karate Kid 2 remake is outta the question, or again, will be related in no way to the original Karate Kid 2

stop screwing up my childhood Hollywood??

uh.. do some research into the history of karate and you’ll find that it developed from chinese martial arts (the chinese themselves got it from Buddhist monks from india).

Regardless of whether it was developed in China, the movie is called Karate Kid – not, “The Marital Art Formerly Developed in China Kid.”

Actually, I’ve done some hunting on IMDb – it doesn’t seem as if the title is actually fixed. Regardless. it’s a stupid idea.

Although at least they won’t need to rename it in Japan, where, inexplicably, the real movie is called “Best Kid.”

So why don’t they just call it “The Kung-fu Kid”? It is being filmed in China and Chan is obviously not Japanese. What’s the point of calling it a remake when really its not?

If Yoko Kanno doesn’t do the music the movie is pointless. Let me correct myself, even MORE pointless.

Why does Hollywood keep touching untouchables? I used to like Keanu Reeves, but after seeing the Day the Earth Stood Still (aka the Day Keanu’s Acting Stood Still) I feel he doesn’t really have what it takes to play such a cool character as Spike.

I agree: Cowboy Bebop w/o the genius that is Kanno Yoko is pointless.

I like J Chan but they should start calling this movie The Kung Fu Kid because there is nothing karate or Japanese about this film.
