Japanese reporter goes inside Gaza tunnel

January 10th, 2009 by James

Looks like NTV is on good enough terms with Palestian smugglers to get access to one of their supply tunnels:

Interesting.

Upon the journalist’s return, he will probably be interrogated by Japanese officials, and they will most likely hand over information on all his Hamas contacts over to the US and Israelis.

Good work.

I have a hard time believing the Japanese press can find something the Mossad can’t.

The IDF has destroyed numerous tunnels.

What we are certain is that they killed a lot of children and women.

Collateral damage is unavoidable for any military when fighting in a densely populated urban area, especially when the enemy uses civilians as human shields like Hamas does.

But I don’t see how this is related to the topic.

Yeah, especially when you’ve stuffed 2 million people in an area about the size of Shibuya-ku.

There is nowhere in Gaza that isn’t densely populated. I worked in Israel for 2 years, it’s common knowledge that the Israeli army couldn’t care less about innocent Palestinian deaths.

When Israel throws the term “human shields” around, you have to take it with a grain of salt. You can’t just expect Hamas to all line up in a building with a large sign that says “Hamas here, bomb us here.” It doesn’t work like that. At the same time, Hamas isn’t lining up women and children in front of them and using them as physical shields. They have family too, and it’s when they go home to their families, do you find dead civilians alongside militants, bombed by an F16 jet a thousand feet in the air, or by a battleship by an equally large distance away.

Wow, that was “news”. Wonder how much the Japanese government will have to pay to “rescue” the reporter(s) after they’re kidnapped.

Palestinians don’t kidnap foreigners, they captured sirealis soldiers.

Why don’t they smuggle medical aid though that tunnel instead of weapons

Pretty simple: smuggling weapons pays better.

Israel is a disgrace. The Japanese are ignorant about this conflict. It would be good to hear why these tunnels are being made in the first place. it is because Israel has Gaza under a blockade starving the Palestinian people. Had there been no blockade Palestinians would not need to smuggle food/weapons through the tunnel in the first place.

Look at the hypocracy. Israel wants Palestinians to stop smuggling weapons when Israel gets billions of Dollars worth of weapons from USA each year. US and Israel are a disgrace to humanity.

Agreed.

I lived in Israel for 2 years and saw how Palestinians were treated. It truly is a disgrace.

Israel is just defending itself against terrorists. Hamas won’t settle for anything less than the annihilation of Israel and has fired thousands of rockets at Israeli civilians, so it’s no wonder there’s a blockade.

So when, and im using hyperbole here,10 guys throw some crappy rockets within 50 miles of a city, and occasionaly someone dies by getting in the rocket zone, they shut off all water and electricity and bomb the hell out of civilians.

Other way around. Israel broke and did not fulfill their side of the ceasefire agreements by not lifting the UN-condemned and illegal blockade of Gaza. On top of that, IDF soldiers carried out a series of killings that resulted in the recent barrage of rockets on the southern parts of Israel.
Research carried out by an MIT group shows and proves that Hamas has and can abide by cease-fires, when it is in their interest:
