Afghan man shot by police

December 29th, 2008 by James

Japanese police shot a man yesterday who was robbing a convenience store in Hokkaido:

Two Afghan men had entered the store and brandished knives while apparently trying to rob the store (the report says they were speaking Farsi). One of the convenience store workers pushed an emergency button, and police soon showed up. When the Afghan men appeared to be heading towards the officers, shots were fired and one of the criminals received a minor wound. Police arrested both of them for attempted robbery.

Is the fact they are from Afganistan REALLY important?
Japanese media must be loving all the foreigner related crimes as of late.

How many cops does it take to do the job?? 20? damn…

I do believe it’s normal for the media in pretty much any country to bring up nationality when foreigners are involved. Also normal to have several police officers at a crime scene.
