I find it strange that although the japanese no longer celebrate lunar new year they still follow the zodiac

The Chinese zodiac and the lunar calendar are not based on the same systems. The Chinese zodiac signs are based on an agricultural solar calendar and overlap with the lunar calendar by two weeks.

Westerners no longer observe the Babylonian system of time, but we’ve adapted the Astrological signs to the Gregorian calendar.

Why didn’t they just use a rat and an ox….?

And that calf is unfortunately gonna be on a plate in several pieces in a couple of months…

Wow, if they couldn’t track down those oh-so-rare rat and oxen, why even bother with the so called “ceremony”?
