I think this is a great idea! In a society like Japan’s, people keep their stress bottled up. Stuff like this could keep some of them from going nuts.

I remember that when I was a kid there was a stand at a local annual fair where you could smash dishes. It was something like £1 ($1.5) for three wooden blocks to throw.

This thing was on a Hungarian commercial TV’s news. Hungarian commercial televisions’ news are like a death counter plus at the end some three legged chicken or cloned two headed rat or this glass breaking s***. That is why I don’t watch TV.

A big business? What is it with Western media outlets reflexively calling any bizarre idea a trend? This is no more a big business than fake vending machine costumes are a popular method of crime prevention or “no-pan” shabu-shabu was once a nightly habit for average salarymen. Then again, people who get all of their news on Japan from the BBC, CNN, et al. would probably think those things were as common as the mythical used panty vending machines.

Westerners believe that Japan is a bunch of wacky and random manchildren who participate in crazy Japanese gameshows and sex crimes daily. Western media wants to get more viewers by covering more wacky stories. There are also some websites (namely ○○○kakucomplex) that do this.
