Well just slashing jobs after jobs...there should be a better way instead of forcing people to lose their jobs! The employees need to do their share as well to assure the company is prosperous.
There are other ways to cut costs in tough times like this...
Hollowing out an industry? What a bad idea!

Dallas, Texas based Southwest Airlines is not deciding to
slash jobs despite tough times. As Southwest Airlines has said" Every employee has to make sacrifices to improve the companies bottom line"
Airline industry obviously is being deeply affected by this recession, but Southwest is an example of a true fighter and a solid business! That's what we need over here in Japan!
Honda don't leave Japan!
http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/09/news/economy/no_layoffs/index.htm?postversion=2008121111

Whatever happened to job security??? People need work! Jobs are necessary for economic well-being!
Employees are critical to any company! We should create jobs and promote job growth!
Makes no sense every company is just letting people go left and right!

So if Honda pulled out of Japan, would they build up their US Plants? We already build the Accord here. Maybe this'll be a good thing for some of the former employees of the big three.

Japan should eliminate it's Fractional banking and open the currency to privatization. What Honda is asking for is stealing people's money through government made inflation. Yes it will help Honda in the short run until Obama jacks up tariffs, then the Japanese will be stuck with inflated currency.

I heard something very similar about GM and Ford a few months back. With something to the effect of; if the US Govt. doesn't bailout those companies that they will be "forced" to do mass layoffs (yada yada yada). I heard that the Govt. said (something to the effect of) go right ahead. They don't plan to bail out the US auto industry. They just got done "trying" to bail out the US financial institutions (with very little success apparently see: http://www.economist.com/finance/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12670165). If the US Govt. bails everyone (just in the US domestic sector alone) who's to bail them out? I agree with doodles, I don't think it's "if" the economy crashes, it's only a matter of time as to "when" the economy completely crashes.

There cannot be any dispute; the US is the #1 in product consumerism in the world. We are all extreme consumerist pigs here. With our economy in shambles, the global economy will fall to its knees.

"If you take bush out of office the government will still be corrupt because even a good man can become bad if power and money are given to him."

Wow you make it sound like the government corrupted W. It isn't a mystery that W as well as the puppets that he and his pop "Sr" orchestrated in the war machine yielded untold billions of dollars (hard earned tax paying dollars from US citizens to boot). The trail of bread crumbs fall the heaviest with David Lesar and Halliburton. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_J._Lesar intresting read that even the CEO of Halliburton plans to skip out of dodge. Perhaps a witch hunt of the perpetrators who robbed the US out of its coffers once Obama takes power? You be the judge.

Sorry for straying off topic.

There were/are intelligence reports EVERY month stating that there is a risk of an attack on American soil (and British, and Japanese, and Australian, and... and... and...).

What there was NOT was intelligence that Mohammed Atta and a bunch of people linked to him and to Al Qaeda would hijack four aircraft in the early morning hours of September 11, 2001, and then fly those aircraft into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and a third target.

So stop thinking that somehow reports of the possibility of an attack on US soil in the 2-3 months leading up to 9/11 were in any way different from the intelligence reports that had been compiled every month for several years prior, or that have been compiled for every month thereafter.

And Abe and Fukuda have done so much for as in comparison, and Aso is following in full stride!

I'm as much of a fan of bush as I am of urinary tract infection, but I mean really - Pull the plank from your own eye. We elected Obama. What have you done?

Good they knock some sense in those knuckleheads in the government!
The government needs a major reality check!
Japan needs to change too!

Would seriously hate to see Honda leave! We cannot let that happen! You think America would let GM go bankrupt even leave the country! I don't think so!
We demand change!
Change is out there---look at Dubai and Shanghai for cry sakes!
If you go there, a recession is nonexistent!

Hopefully Obama will make the world a better place! If he's another lying smooth talking lawyer then might as well get ready for the great depression. The worrisome thing is the world economy is so bad we haven't even hit bottom yet!
Bush definitely messed us over bad!

If America and Japan don't change then they will simply become third world countries, that would be most sad and that shouldn't happen!
We can't depend on the government 100%, the future is up to us too!

Hopefully Obama will make the world a better place! If he’s another lying smooth talking lawyer then might as well get ready for the great depression. The worrisome thing is the world economy is so bad we haven’t even hit bottom yet!
Bush definitely messed us over bad!

If America and Japan don’t change then they will simply become third world countries, that would be most sad and that shouldn’t happen!
We can’t depend on the government 100%, the future is up to us too!

No one is defending Bush but it is a lousy debate to bring up when your facts are all based on conspiracy theories and no one is going to take you seriously, oh, and it's 'worse' not 'worsest' (that is just one of many but it was really bugging me.) As for the overall impact of this article, it is really sad to see a company try to threaten a government to change the current state of the economy. Would be interesting to see if they are actually going to back that threat or if it was just a bluff.

There are reports that came out months before the attack that they were going to occur, but were ignored. Anyway, Mr. M, you are off topic and I suggest you use another blog.

It is interesting though that the FBI, CIA, and internal affairs did nothing about these attack plots months before they happened. There were even intellegence stating that there would be an attack on American soil months before the attack occured, and these reports were ignored by literally all agencies.

Mr M, you obviously are uneducated to a degree or english is not your first language. You have no evidence that bush "allowed" the terrorist to attack. I know this because you would/should of provided it in your post when you made such wild claims.
Obviously bush has caused some problems, but you are ignorant of the entire government system which is capable and is corrupt of its own accord. If you take bush out of office the government will still be corrupt because even a good man can become bad if power and money are given to him.
Don't put all the blame on Bush as if you could do a better job, you have no idea what it's like to be president, so just assume it's a difficult and extremely complicated job that calls for decisions that will be scrutinized by the world. I doubt you have to deal with many decisions that affect the entire world and are of such importance. So don't jump to such outlandish conclusions unless you have some proof to back it up.

At the moment it is Honda threatening the government - i don't live in Japan, nor have I been there for a holiday. I would love to go but it has always been out of my reach. If the other manufacturing companies leave, like they have done in my country, where will that place Japan's economy? Will that lead to high unemployment? Will they then tell the foreigners working in Japan that they will be revoking their working visas as they want the jobs for the Japanese?
As for the previous Government in USA, they reacted like all governments react ie. they got buffed in the head by some terrorists, and they overreacted and totally destroyed a country that may never recover. AND allowed the death of who knows how many men and women & children.

Good for them! Honestly I hope the auto companies screw over the government. In the end peope will hve no one to blame but their craptastic politicians who refused to support the Yens deflation. But everyone has to remember one big thing. The reason behind the Yen's outrageous spike isn't because the Japanese economy is doing so well, but because the American Economy is doing terribly! Everytime they make these stupid billion dollar bailouts, somebody has to secure the loan. So the US gov. sells bonds to the Japanese, and pretty counter our Foreign Exchange reserves. SO basically the Japanese have a ton more dollar now than We have Yen. Therefor the value is just crazy at the moment. This isn't something thats going to change much sooner either.
You can't quote me here guys: The day the worlds economy collapses is reckoning. It will be the day the Japanese economy sinks into Depression and the Japanese rush to sell the US bonds. Then all this monopoly money the US gov. is throwing out wont be valued squat. I give is 3-6 months.
Economist weren't kidding when they said we havent felt the extent of the financial meltdown yet. Currency Exchange experts are going to have a field day!

Proof that a Japanese keyboard is in use!

The irony is that if Honda leaves Japan, Japan's economy will drop and lower the yen.

Everyone knows that Bush allowed the terrorists to attack New York in 2001.

As much as I dislike Bush, your ability to debate a topic would be much stronger if it weren't based on nonsense.
