A monkey that can ride a horse
You’ve seen monkeys that ride mini motorcycles, and even dogs – but what about a monkey that can ride a horse? Here’s a Japanese macaque in Mie Prefecture that does just that (and wears a jockey costume too):
The monkey in the video is Sally, a monkey that lives at a horse riding center in Ise. The owner of the horse riding center first started teaching Sally 10 years ago. At first she was a bit scared, but she has since grown comfortable with the horse. Sally needs some human help getting on the saddle and starting and stopping the horse, but when it comes to riding, she’s fine.
According to a Mainichi article about the monkey jockey, there are two other monkeys at the horse riding center, both of whom can also ride horses.
