“NO HUMAN RIGHTS IN JAPAN”
During my regular searches of YouTube for interesting videos about Japan, I come across a lot of dumb rant-filled vlogs. I don’t usually post about them, but this video by Fantazamaraz seemed worthy of posting because it is about something strange – a foreigner being arrested for taking upskirt photographs in Japan:
Fantazamaraz spends most of the video wildly ranting about the lack of human rights in Japan. Apparently a foreign friend of his was arrested in Japan after being caught in the act of taking the photos on an escalator. Fantazamaraz ‘s complaints were as follows:
- There is no national law in Japan against taking photos up girls’ skirts. His friend was arrested in the act of breaking a local ordinance. Cities and prefectures should not be allowed to create local ordinances and laws.
- His friend was detained for 13 days and was not charged with a crime.* During that time he had “nuthin to read” or do, and restrictions were placed on when the British embassy could visit him.
- His friend was released only after paying a 300,000 yen fine.
- JAPAN COMMITTED HORRIBLE WAR CRIMES IN WORLD WAR II. The people who run the Ministry of Justice are just like those responsible for the war. They are the same mentality as Hirohito and “General Togo.”
- Japan’s diplomats were polite and smiled when meeting with American officials in 1941, even as their nation was readying its attack on Pearl Harbor.
- Harry Truman should have dropped an atomic bomb on Tokyo.
His story doesn’t have a lot of details, but it sounds like his friend admitted guilt and paid a fine so he could be released without having to face formal charges in a court. It would seem that there was little doubt his friend actually took the upskirt photos, so it is a bit odd that it would take his friend 13 days to decide on a confession and fine payment.
Other men who are caught groping women on trains or taking upskirt photographs usually face similar options, and if they readily admit guilt and agree to pay a fine, they might not spent much time in a detention cell. There have been cases where the accused have pleaded innocence and won in court, but because it is a long and difficult process most choose to just sign a confession and pay up.
Update: Seems that some of you sent him comments, and he thinks many of you are hypocrites, bigots, and gay. He’s an upped a new video directed at the reaction he got, further explaining why taking upskirt photos is harmless and should not be considered a crime.
