Well, it was only a shoe. I wonder how well members of Japan’s politicians would do at dodging footwear.

Like it or not, Bush was pretty smooth during the entire situation. Even had enough sense to sneer at the guy while he was up there. Respect the gangsta.

I was hoping Bush would reach down afterward, pull off his own shoes and throw them back. That guy misunderestimated his reflexes.

Throwing shoes is a big insult in Arab countries.

Dubya exhibited his usual cultural sensitivity:
“So what if someone throws their shoes at me?”

Way to go… and good riddance.

Given before reading any of the articles on the matter, I too did not know this custom in the Arab world. But, to not be told about the significance of what was done was another crime altogether and I bet the networks had a field day with this one.

Bush’s reflexes notwithstanding, that Iraqi reporter’s aim was spot on. My congratulations to him.

What a tiny step up the evolutionary ladder those Arab’s are. Ya know what chimps throw when they’re upset right?

Aso wouldn’t dodge, he would assume there was a foot in it and open his mouth wide to catch it…
