Two-legged kitten in Akita

A video of an injured kitten in Akita Prefecture that learned to walk on only two legs:

A staff member of a local bookstore found the injured stray kitten and brought it to a vet, where it was determined the cat’s hind legs needed to be amputated. The cat has since recovered well enough to walk around freely on its two front legs. Most of the cat’s time recently has been spent exploring the floor of the bookstore, but it will soon be moving into a real home.

The Overthinker

You should watch this video *especially* if footage of injured kittens makes you sad. Because it’s a happy ending. Many, many kittens are not so lucky to be found by someone who must have spent a fortune in vet’s bills. I hope the local humane society or volunteer organizations are helping out. And that many people go to this bookshop to see the kitten and buy books.

many years ago, they got some for my grandma`s dog. he got around fine and lived to a ripe old age.

I’m very happy to see that the kitten has fully recovered and hope that it lives to see a long and happy life. But I’m so disappointed that its hind legs and tail had to be removed just because some asshole left him on the street. Please spay or neuter your animals!

A comment from someone who doesn’t live in a Japanese city apparently.

Stray cats are everywhere, they have no owners, they have kittens, some of them survive. Some get hurt or sick. A lucky one finds a kind hearted person. The kind hearted people in each neighborhood [there's always a few] who feed stray cats every day are the main source of the problem. In a sense, the nice people who support the stray cat population ARE the assholes of which you speak.

Many of these “assholes” are also members of volunteer neighbourhood groups who round up any newcomers and take them to be spayed or neutered. And they do the same to the cats as well….

That’s very moving- we once had a dog like that. Just showed on our street one day and we took him in. That little thing.

He was full of life and enthusiasm. He’d run up to us so eagerly, so “loyally”, dragging his behind, and his bottom would scrape the concrete, creating wounds that never healed.

I called him oro after kenshin himura’s favorite expression. He died in less than three months- he followed my mother outside and was run over by the neighbor’s car =(. But he had a good, cheerful brief life.

Sorry but i thought i needed a mini tribute to him.
