Unbelievable. Not even commenting on the movie, I’ve never seen such a poorly cut trailer in my life (and I hang out on Apple.com’s trailer site all the time). Think to yourself – when was the last time you saw the names of characters appear in a trailer?!

That said, it’s sad that they reduced the TV series into a giant, crappy CG effects reel. If you really want to see live-action Dragonball (although unintended), simply watch the fight between Neo and Agent Smith in the third Matrix movie.

Look, for all the haters out there, this looks like its going to be so bad its good. I look forward to seeing this with all my friends and I’m sure we’ll have a great laugh seeing as we were all Z fans at the age of 10. Anyone who disagrees….

What is all about CG here… PPL didnt complain about CG when first gainax movie on daikon was out…. And now all I hear is CG. Why do you watch anime? You like the story or the colors? Or maybe all of it? I am not a Dragon Ball fan, never was, never will, but i think this movie will be pretty cool.
Why? Well first of all Bulma looks cute. And the capsule vehicle! Man, better than latest BatMobile… And ofc Akira Toriyama is great. I think it is enough
To hell with CG, lets hope they do not mess up the story…

The point that non-Japanese seem to always miss about Dragonball is the humour. It’s packed with lame jokes. But I suppose this movie will just be another martial arts movie just borrowing the names from Dragonball.

Wow… This movie looks like it has just about NOTHING to do with Dragonball. Finally a movie that will be worse than that MARIO BROTHERS disasterpiece! Not even so bad its funny. Just bad. This movie is gonna flop bad.

They did a really good job of editing in 7 orange balls into a generic white-kid-meets-kung-fu action adventure!

Pretty sucky in a western rape a franchise by producing a shitty movie way, compared to the suckyness everything dragonball is by default.

At first i was a little pissed at the idea then i saw the pictures and changed my mind but the trailer is a little er cheesy.

If it wasn’t called Dragonball, I’d have never guessed that it was a film about the anime series.

That being said, even for a generic martial-arts-hollywood-rape it looks like pure crap…

I didn’t realize it was April Fools Day alrea- wow, you’re kidding me, this crap is real? This simultaneously makes me think of that dreadful Mario movie in like 1992 with Bob Hoskins as Mario, and also that that April Fools Zelda trailer that they made in ‘07 is over 9000 better than this garbage. It doesn’t even look bad enough to be good, like MST3Kable good, it just looks like random kung-fu-meets-cracker junk, like Bulletproof Monk.

And DBZ was great because it took Saiyuki and made it into that trademark Japanese ridiculosity that is just brilliant. Cmon, the whole premise of the series is REALLY based on aliens conquering other worlds for real estate trade. It takes a lot of creativity to change a story that’s a few thousand years old into that.

Come to think of it, though, Dragonball itself was a bastardization of 西游记 (Journey to the West) about a Buddhist monk. What’s all this business about space aliens they included?

Hollywood is simply adding on to the bastardization of the traditional story. With a white dude with annoying hair.

The movie’s problem is that it takes itself too seriously. It’s about finding some balls. I mean, come on, really.

My childhood is being raped by Hollywood….first Dragonball, then Cowboy Bebop, Akira, and Ghost in the Shell..
