Japanese mounted archery challenge on the History Channel

December 4th, 2008 by James

Tim Ferris, author of the best-selling book The 4-Hour Workweek, has blogged this preview of his new TV show that airs today on the History Channel:

In the first episode, Ferris will go to Japan and attempt to learn the art of Yabusame mounted archery in just five days.

Ferris, who has traveled around Japan quite a bit, has also written a great two-part guide on cheap travel in Tokyo.

That looks wicked. I like the way he sells himself; very effective presentation. It’d be cool to see how he gets on with the yabusame!

Having seen Yabusame live in Asakusa this spring I was a bit disappointed with the show (I saw it tonight). I was hoping to learn more about the history of the sport but the show focused more on the physical challenge that it represented.

Man, what a wanker. Sure he was the world kickboxing champ, put him in with Masato.
