first off… all you guys are BAKA and well too sensitive.

She is a comedian. Don’t you guys see the humor in this? All the girls in japan are struggling to be skinny and cry about how hard it is. Watanabe on the other hand is trying to gain weight and she is struggling. She cries because she can’t gain weight. It’s all a comedy act. She’s making all the skinny girls in japan look foolish by doing this. But you guys don’t get it at all. You sensitive types shouldn’t watch generation kill as you’d probably protest at HBO HQ.

It her choice she can say no or quit.That being said it also reminds me of John Belushi and Chris Farley.A self-destructing type of personality.It looked to me more of a reality show then a comedy bit(i dont speak Japanese so I could be wrong). Comedians usually find this sort of niche act. For her it seems like “im the fat girl(fat comic).” Usually a fat comic thinks they cant be funny if they loose the wright.Shes very cute too.Fat comics usually hate they way they look and themselves.I hope its only an act and she knows what shes doing.

gee – i am sorry i offended some of you but london boots??? were they try get the girlfriend or boyfriend to cheat? come on. beat takeshi`s shows where they bop people over the head. the show where they make people eat gross things. the show where they make people sit in a tub of really hot water, or bugs or snakes or whatever. i could go on. i guess humor comes in all forms but for me, here, i take cable and just love my CSIs, bones, NCIS, Poirot, Miss Marple, Lynley and the rest of the lot. i feel sick when i see people being abused in the name of entertainment. there is a reason the three stoogies style is not that popular anymore. (and by the way – they were not that funny)

Only when it’s in good form. When it’s working well, British comedies are the best by a long way – I cannot actually think of any pure comedies from the US that aren’t animated that even come close (feel free to suggest some for me to try – and I consider M*A*S*H is not a pure comedy, really, but still think it’s great). But British humour also has some rather grotty aspects to it as well.

The fat are funny in Japan as they are rare enough not be the audience but the target. Japanese are not fat as they don’t eat as much as Americans in general, the world champions of obesity in the first world. They also probably get more exercise, even if it’s just the walk to the train station. Beats a walk to the garage.

You said it. While I think that this particular show is rather mean-spirited, judging all Japanese comedy or TV by it is a pretty sweeping generalization. Not all Japanese comedy is about “torture” and not all of it is “sick”.

japanese humor and japanese tv are the absolute bottom of the barrel. they can`t laugh unless someone is getting tortured in some way. sick sick sick and people wonder what is happening to the youth of this country. and NO they did not get this stuff from abroad. they make this sick stuff up all by themselves.

Man, I hate this sort of gutter humour that’s prevalent in Japan. Fat people aren’t funny. I keep seeing adverts on the train with some fat comedian advertising food. Aahahahha, that’s freaking hilarious! He’s a fat guy, and he’s eating, because fatties love to eat! Aahahahah, the food must be good because some fat guy loves it.

It seems that in this country there are less obese people, but they are treated much worse. I suppose it could get into a bit of a chicken-and-the-egg debate as to whether there is less obesity because of the massive peer pressure and ridicule they face, or whether the ridicule exists because obesity is so rare, but… I think it’s pretty horrible to obese people, and pretty freaking boring to the rest of us.

I’m willing to admit that Britain is bad at a lot of things… but suddenly I have to wonder, do we have the best sense of humour in the world?

How can anyone willingly destroy their body like this?
And how can people encourage a person to do so, then laugh at them or even watch such a thing?
It’s very sad to see what kind of things people seem to enjoy on television.

By the way, she’s weighing more than me now! But I’m male and most likely quite a bit taller.

I had no idea that this TV show made megamacs.

People make themselves fat/obese. She made an agreement to gain the weight in exchange for something else that she wanted (hence the name of the show, contract with the devil).
