Missing Japanese painting found in Korean museum

A painting by Japanese artist Ryohei Koiso that has been missing since 1935 was found in Korea:
Japan’s Tokyo Shimbun said Friday that Ryohei Koiso’s painting depicting a woman with a Japanese coiffeur was found in the National Museum of Korea.
The painting is considered to be a valuable work that provides key information on western painting techniques by Japanese artists.
Some had feared that the painting had been lost forever, but it now turns out that it had been purchased by Korean Crown Prince Euimin, who was an officer in the Imperial Japanese Army at the time. The painting eventually found its way into the collection of the National Museum of Korea. The museum plans to put the painting on public display starting next Tuesday.
