3rd grader drives family car 3 km, parks at a convenience store
A 9-year-old boy in Gifu prefecture managed to get into his grandfather’s car and go for a drive alone on Monday:
Police received a call at around 7:30 a.m. Monday from a passer-by who reported that a car appeared to be unmanned and was running along a road in Yoro in the same prefecture.
Officers found the car in a nearby convenience store parking lot and took the boy into custody.
The boy told the officers at that time that he was lost.
The car, an automatic minivehicle, was kept at the family’s home with the key in the ignition.
The kid told the police he learned to drive from observing his parents and playing arcade games. Police have warned the parents “to watch the car more carefully.”

lol! Does that kid think he’s in America? We’re the home of child joyriders.
Of course in America you’d have to go find the keys yourself, not just have them waiting for you in the ignition!

Depends on where you are. In the middle of nowhere, or a smallish (10,000 people) town in the middle of nowhere, you’ll see keys get left in the ignition all the time.

I wonder what the kid was spinning over the stereo while out cruising?
