Kevin

Mexico and Montreal hold the Olimpic Games in 68 and 76, and they ended up getting more debts. Do you want Brazil to have the same problem?

PTSnake

Agree with you, the federal government should take care of their own people and their social problems first, then holding the olimpic games.

If Tokyo has financial debts, can you imagine Chicago, and especially Rio de Janeiro where politicians are corrupts?

Another thing Rio de Janeiro has already hold the Panamerican Games, and instead of boosting the brazilian economy, it brought debts and more debts. Plus, the government did not improve the econmic situation that people face in Brazil.

Well... I have been in Brazil before, and I can tell that Rio de Janeiro or S. Paulo cannot hold the Olympic Games. If it happens, the national debts that they already have will increase more and more.

Rio de Janeiiro hold the Panamerican Games few years ago. The Federal Government told that they would expend 2 million dollars; however, the government of Brazil expended more than this value, and made more debts. Besides, the governor of Rio de Janeiro needs to face several challenges there such as the problem of violence, poverty, good image, unemployment, healthy, education, and infrastructure. I ask, can Rio de Janeiro overcome these social problems and at the same time hold a Olimpic Game? I dont think so.

Rio de Janeiro can hold a Olimpic Game, but it will have to face such a bad consequence and it will not be a advantage for common people who needs job, good health care, good education, etc...Hopefully Brazilian government will take care of important things first, then events like the Olimpic Games that cost a lot money and responsabilities.

Chigago is the home of corrupt politics in the USA.
More dead people vote there than anywhere else.

Well it proves they're not "a stick in the mud" in Chicago :-D

Also, Rio is in the southern hemisphere, 22Deg 57min South so 'The Summer Olympics' in Rio would technically have to be held in December.

The Olympic Committee is the home of sleaze who travel the world and take bribes.

It's a perfect fit.

BTW, how can I get on the Olympic Committee? Seems like a VERY sweet gig.

I'd go for Rio De Janeiro. It'd give a good shot in the arm to the South American economy and it's not like Tokyo (or even Chiba where inevitably all things labeled "Tokyo" go to) needs to an excuse to get even more crowded.

Yes, the Olympic should be hosted by the new comer. Probably Brazil can boost the economy of Rio de Janeiro by that, like in Tokyo in 1964.

At least no thanks for Tokyo again. Tokyo has lots of finance debt and as far as I know almost no ordinary citizens in Tokyo are interested in hosting the Olympic in 2016.

gee. if the new president will hurt tokyo`s chances - maybe tokyo doesn`t have much of a chance. i can`t see the reasoning here. and by the way, that logo leaves a lot to be desired.

As if a SINGLE host city doesn't piss away enough of their local tax dollars trying to impress the rest of the world - lets have 4 cities waste money - what a great idea.

Brazil can't even handle their own contry in normal conditions, let alone during olimpics.

I'm between tokyo and chicago.
Tokyo because of the good conditions and hospitality, and chicago because it would help the dollar rise a bit, and help worldwide economy because of this.

Agreed, but not because of population. There has never been an Olympics in South America - it's about time.
