U.S. Election

There’s less than a week to go until the U.S. presidential election, but Americans living in Japan can still cast their votes! Check out Trans-Pacific Radio for more details on absentee ballots.

If you’re living in Japan and want to watch live election night coverage on Wednesday morning/afternoon, the AP and several networks will be offering live streaming video on their websites.

From the point-of-view of polling data, the only way McCain is going to pull through is if Bin Laden makes (another) guest appearance in the final week leading up to the election and insinuates he would prefer Obama over McCain through ridicule of the Bush Admin. The average American will take this at face value, and have no idea that they’re being manipulated through reverse-psychology. Most Americans have absolutely no clue about the wars going on in Iraq and Afghan to begin with.

Bin Laden has had more control over the course of American thought and politics than most Americans realize or admit. I don’t underestimate his potential to undermine this year’s presidential election as well. Neither does the Obama campaign, which is why they’re emphasizing early votes! They either have good foresight, or they’ve learned from Kerry’s disaster.

The federal website says to try and get the absentee form mailed in 45 days before the election. There doesn’t appear to be deadline but realistically if I mail it in today the government will not even receive it until after the election.
