    In Europe

Yukichi, who served as an English translator for the mission, is the tall man standing to the left-center. Fukuzawa would later distinguish himself as an author and educator, founding Keio University in Tokyo. Since 1984, a portrait of Fukuzawa has been printed on 10,000 yen banknotes, making his face familiar to millions of people.
