Two members of the Japanese comedy trio Morisanchu visited Turkey recently and tried to become belly dancers. They attempted to use dumbness as a substitute for skill:

Japan has the benefit of a tremendous amount of popular goodwill in Turkey, dating back to the 19th Century when Japanese rescued a large number of Turkish seamen off the Ertugrul, and the subsequent efforts of Yamada Torajiro to raise funds to help the families of those Turks who died in the wreck. Turks tend to have long memories and do not forget those who helped them.

But I hope they will try to forget this. Or at least, not hold it against Japan. ;-)
