Thanks for posting this. I needed a quick description of this scandal.

It was more than a year ago but it's a helpful description of the historical record that you wouldn't find on Wikipedia (and you never know when the news media will delete its articles).

You might be interested to know that, like most companies affected by the Chinese imported food scandals of 2008, consumers have forgotten all about it and are buying Chinese imports in droves again. At the time I remember seeing extremely detailed reports of the supply chain and Chinese factories freaking out about safety, but you gotta wonder if there were any lasting improvements or if the media and regulators just stopped caring.

My precious cheese focaccia!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

Oh, how I will miss your 189 yenned garlic encrusted fluffy bread. But the time has come for us to part, for your powdered milk content will be the end of me.

True, but if that local Italian restaurant was using powdered milk from China....

And considering how much of the food in Japan comes from China, the odds would probably be pretty good that even the local non-chain restaurants are using Chinese ingredients.

Ewww... I love Saizeriya, that's too bad. While they are good, proves chain stores are bad. There's so much good local Italian in Japan.
