Tanuki found on balcony of 6th floor apartment

October 15th, 2008 by James

Very strange news out of Kagoshima City:

Residents of an apartment building in the middle of the city were shocked to discover a wild tanuki (Japanese racoon dog) on the building’s 6th floor balcony. Nobody is quite sure how the tanuki got there, but it is possible that he climbed his way to the roof of the apartment and then accidentally fell onto the balcony and became trapped. Police successfully captured the tanuki, and will release it into the mountains later this week.
