Kazuyoshi Miura’s hat: a good-bye message?

Kazuyoshi Miura, a man sometimes called “Japan’s OJ” by the international press, committed suicide in his jail cell in L.A. over the weekend, shocking close friends and the media. Prior to his suicide, Miura had expressed confidence in his ability to beat the murder conspiracy charges he was facing, and apparently he had been finishing up a book about his experiences.

In the search for signs that he would commit suicide, the press has taken notice of the hat he wore during his flight from Saipan to Los Angeles. The strange-looking hat had PEACE POT MICRODOT printed on it, a slang term defined by urban dictionary as the following:

Peace. Pot. Micro-Dot.

A time-honored farewell, wishing other stoners and hippies a happy and high goodbye.

A secret good-bye message to his stoner friends, or just a coincidence?

This was discussed on TV over the weekend. Considering he apparently bought the hat right after arriving in Saipan 7 months ago (and before he was arrested), he would have to be amazingly prescient to have bought the hat as a farewell message.

How can you tell he committed suicide? The initial report said, “He was lying down unconscious on the cell floor, with his shirt around his neck.” He was not hanging when he was found. Who believes he choked himself to death?

Miura is a very tough person. He survived more than 10 years in jail in Japan. He is the last person to commit suicide.

LA is the place where the murderer of 1981 incident lives. Maybe, the unknown murderer found it inconvenient to see Miura in court for he may speak something about the conspiracy.

Yes, and maybe the unknown murderer found some way to get into the locked cell Miura was being held in, strangle him and get back out (locking the cell behind him), without being noticed by anyone.

Yup, all the Japanese weekend chat shows have suddenly changed their tone about this murderer.
Suddenly he’s an innocent victim of mysterious forces out to kill him.

It’s fine to question what happened while he was in jail, but I wish the Japanese would cast such suspicion at all the incidents that happen IN JAPANESE JAILS or with JAPANESE POLICE. We could start with the forced confessions and beatings. Maybe work up to the police terming so many suspicious deaths as “suicides” just to save paperwork (or to save someone who paid them off?)

Japanese media starting to complain about police injustice is just a tad hypocritical.

True, the media does complain loudly and often, but they do it in Japanese. I mean, how is an AET or Nova teacher supposed to understand what they are saying when the media won’t even put it in English! Too many Japanese believe that they can say whatever they like in Japanese as though Japanese is some secret code. Those racist bastards!

Honestly, regardless of his death, I believed that he killed his wife. He knew about her life insurance and planned it carefully so that he could get the high amount of money from her death. He was cold enough to do such thing.

That is too bad that he commited suicide. He could have a chance to prove otherwise, however with his suicide, he proved that he was the real murder because he knew that in LA he would have 90 percent of chances to convicted of this murder case, and get a reat punishment for such brutality. TV news told that LA Police had ways to prove such brutality and got more witness about this sad episode.

The sad thing is that his former wife’s mother will never see her daughter during this life because of his stupid action. He will not get punishment here, but he will have it in the spirit world.

In Japan, he had 99.9% chances to be convicted guilty of this murder case, yet he fought it through and got a not-guilty verdict in the end. Now, do you say he suddenly got despaired and killed himself in LA?

According to the allegation, Miura conspired with an unknown hit man who killed his wife. If the police have such a solid evidence of the conspiracy, they should know the identity of the hit man. If so, they should arrest the hit man first.

You deserved for your crimes.
I do not believe you commit suicide..i bet someone in prison helped you..
But after autopsy they find you did commit suicide.. then I say
you are such a chicken!!!

It is amazing that so many people here just jump to the conclusion that he is a murderer with no evidence at all.

One thing that is certain in this case is that Miura did not kill his wife by himself. If the allegation is true, he hired a hit man that killed his wife. If it is false, he is just a surviving family of a murder victim. There is no evidence that connect him to conspiracy.

And if the allegation is true, the professional hit man is freely living in LA. What a nice place.
