Utsunomiya gyoza statue destroyed

    Workers accidentally destroyed Utsunomiya station’s famous “Venus wrapped in a gyoza” statue yesterday while attempting to move it to make way for construction work:

    The unique statue, which is a popular meeting spot for locals and tourists, was to be moved to a location outside the station’s west exit.

    The project was contracted out to a company by the municipal government’s office in charge of development projects for the station’s east exit.

    The statue fell forward while being hoisted five centimeters above its pedestal by a crane.
