Explosives set off near Imperial Palace
A former member of the self-defense forces was detained last night for throwing explosives-filled fire extinguishers at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo:
Officers patrolling near the tightly guarded palace are said to have heard two blasts in the early hours of the morning, and found the man standing by a parked truck with a make-shift launch pad on the back.
No injuries or damage were reported.
Local news agencies quote the former serviceman as saying he just wanted to have fun, and stir things up.
