Bugs mark the coming of autumn in Japan

Fuji TV news reports in this video that the Mecopoda nipponensis [クツワムシ], a noisy cricket-like bug traditionally associated with autumn in Japan, has made its appearance in the Okutama area of Tokyo:

These are indeed popping up in Tokyo. While walking through Ueno park today I could hear them all over. It’s kind of nice… hypnotic even.
