August 9th is the 63rd anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, and N-H-K aired a documentary last night about Joe O’Donnell, an American photographer who took pictures of the aftermath of the bombing and later became a outspoken critic of the atomic bombings.

Here is a short excerpt of O’Donnell stating his opposition to the bombings:

O’Donnel spent years exhibiting his photographs and giving lectures about the atomic bombings. He passed away last year, but his son Tyge is continuing his work. Tyge O’Donnell has uploaded somme of his father’s most famous photographs to Flickr, where they can be viewed in this gallery. There is also a very good article about O’Donnel’s experience in the Las Vegas Review Journal.
