It’s still unlikely. In the past, Europeans also claimed that the Native Americans were from the 10 Lost Tribes – possibly because they didn’t want to believe that “savages” could have constructed Chichen Itza and Macchu Picchu.

Because both the Mayans and the Egyptians built pyramidal structures (even if they look nothing alike except in shape), does it mean both races are descended from Atlantis, as some people say?

Very intriguing. Looks like Israel is looking at the issue quite seriously. But then again, the producers of the show may just have exaggerated some points.

But if it were true, I wonder how it will affect the Middle East equation. But again, if it were proven to be true, most people would probably just brush it over, because it’s still not easy to believe. Hmmm. Anyway, intriguing nevertheless.

That must have been fun . Most important different countries is nice to share and respect different culture is a good thing. Peace is wonderful and that must be what all of us must work for.

James, Japan and Israel are connected just as much as my cell phone connects to your dad’s refridgerator.

That whole theory of Israel’s lost tribe coming to Japan is a classical mix of logical and historical fallacies, mostly having to do with ignoring actual archaeological evidence of Japanese origins and traditions. Most of the rest have to do with ignoring the commonality of certain practices among world religions (if all you have is two points, you can draw a line). There are a few which are kind of interesting, but they are usually local customs which are not “Japanese” in the sense of being common to any significant portion of the population and which are rather poorly sourced.

There is no credible genetic, linguistic or cultural basis for the claims. Such “documented” commonalities are historical accidents, the results of many human beings acting like, well, human beings, and sometimes repeating themselves.

I agree. No other time in history a series of “accidents” line up so perfectly as with this case of Japan and Isreal. If you want solid scientific evidence and reasoning, the Bible, or any major world religions for that matter, would be moot. Cynics will be cynics. I’m a “scientist” by profession and not once in my education have I observed an experiment that answers all of life’s questions. Science is so imperfect it’s astonishing how much people rely on it. It’s the 21st century and we’ve only started to skim the surface of the mechanism of DNA and the physiology of the human body. As imperfect as it is, we can only cure the basics of human diseases. Most of what we know how to do today in science is to attempt to stop or alter nature from taking its natural course; the vast majority of which we have no clue as to why it happens the way it does.

Imagine if the space in the room you’re sitting in right now represented the extent of enlightenment and knowledge of all what science has to offer yet to be discovered. The “scientific” knowledge we have available to us today is but a size of your mouse.

Science may not know everything, but it does not pretend to. What it DOES offer, however, is a method for knowing that so far beats the pants off anything else. Which is why we use to design jets rather than employing mystics and spiritualists.
The Japan – Israel link is at best a minor infusion of a few third-hand ideas: the idea that Japan is a Lost Tribe up there with Mu etc.

I respectfully agree and disagree. “It” does not pretend to know everything, and rightly so, but the problem lies in the “people” who do pretend to know everything based on its imperfections. Or perhaps I should say, it’s the imperfections of the people that pretend to know everything based on science, which we will never come to a perfect understanding.

There are all sorts of Japanese-related events all over the world., so it’s rather silly to highlight this. English news sources are overwhelmingly pro-Israel for a few reasons. The preponderance of reporting, however, shouldn’t be confused for the state of affairs.

Which was all started by the Arab League attacking Israel. If they wouldn’t have attacked Israel perhaps it would still exist as it did in ’47. Israel beat the Arabs at their own game and to the victor go the spoils. That is just hard fact.
