Oh and as far as “Christianity seeping into place it doesn’t belong” goes, Christianity was imported from China…. by Koreans. Korea is one of the few places where Christianity was not introduced in a hostile manner by the West.

You know, I thought about it. This may actually be for the better. If (some) Koreans are going to be so hostile about the situation to begin with, I would have concerns about the well-being of the children being sent abroad. Cultural and academic exchange is great, but if the children were to end up being subjected to propoganda and criticism at such a young age, it could be very damaging.

I love Korean people, but this decision made by this city’s government was totally wrong and arbitrary. What do children from both nations have to do with this issue? The problem is about the past, and these politicians are trying to make the JPKO worse. Shame on you government!!!

I just find it ridiculous that people can be won over by such nonsense. More sane Koreans need to rise up and castigate their more zealous neighbors for their poor behavior. This world is becoming more and more interconnected and frankly, kowtowing to your nation’s fringe extremists shines a poor light on you as a member of the international community.

Apparently this isn’t the first instance. Occidentalism reported (back in 2006) on a group of Taiwanese kids who were invited to participate in a baseball tournament in Korea, but then were sent home when it became apparent they would win over the Korean teams since “victory [was] reserved for a Korean team”.

I’m not a Christian myself, but the Christianity I saw in Korea only goes by the same name, and I don’t think it has anything to do with the issues here, except when the Korean ministers start preaching to their Korean flocks about their political agendas. They do that as Koreans, though, not as Christians.

When I visited Ulleongdo, Korean islands near Dokdo/Takeshima, I was told that America has Hawaii, Korea has Dokdo.

Hawaii was annexed by America after a group of Americans/Europeans overthrew Hawaii’s government. It’s not exactly the best example for Koreans to use when explaining how Dokdo should be their legal territory.

Christianity has nothing to do with this issue. If you have a bone to pick with Jesus, fine, but at least put it in proper context.

This has everything to do with a people who are stuck in perpetual victim mentality, which is a shame, because if they weren’t so backwards, I think they’d have a lot to offer in the world, but you can’t be on top thinking you’re on the bottom all the time and this is the main reason why Korea won’t truly succeed in being a force in this world, beside the copycat phones and copycat iPods.

Their economy is going to hell, foreign investments are dwindling daily, which is really going to hit them hard because their economy is largely driven by exports. Before that cow prostest, there was an outbreak of Avian flu. A SK Ajumma just got gunned down by a NK soldier, Chilean pork that they eat has been proven to be tainted and can make people sick, the educational system is hell and only teaches how to hate the world, and yet, they are protesting diseases that they’ll never get (mad cow) a president that only spent 60 days in office before they took to the streets to protest ‘his policies and arrogance’ (never mind the fact that the beef deal was the only thing he’d done up till that point), and some uninhabitable rocks that are NOTHING like Hawaii. (people can actually live there, okay?)

There they go again, showing just how childish they can be. (Koreans)

The first protests where because of mass misinformation of what mad cow disease really was, how rampant it was and how it transferred (some were saying it could be transmitted by a kiss). Even after the protesters got what they wanted they protested even more and then got violent.

Now they are protesting about who really owns the rocks in the middle of the Sea for Japan (or “East Sea” according to Koreans).

I still don’t get any of it??? I’ve heard of many protests out of South Korea for a while but never fully understood what’s the huge ruckus?

All I hear is “blah blah blah KOREA!!!”, but I just want to hear nice side to an argument I have zero knowledge about?

Seriously, what the hell is going on in Korea?
Didn’t they also recall their ambassador or something?
Riots and vigils about US beef and mad cow, full of misinformation like mad cow being contagious and instantly fatal, even if you don’t eat it.

Things keep going this way, and maybe it’s the SOUTH Koreans who will be the ones lobbing missiles into Tokyo, not the North Koreans.

It’s almost as if the South Korean government is trying to distract the entire population with these nationalist matters, but distract them from what?
Or maybe Kim Jong Il has perfected some mind-control beam?
Or the number of North Korean agents/sympathizers in the South Korean government has reached critical mass?

I don’t give a crap about some rocks in the ocean, but it really seems like the Koreans are turning into Grade A assholes.
Either that or just a bunch of easily-manipulated idiots.
